Museums, galleries and cultural foundations

We edit, design and produce books, exhibition catalogues and other display literature – in most European languages and in Bahasa, Chinese, Korean and Russian. We also advise on issues such as developing an appropriate house style, education packs and digital publishing.

Priene, by Nikos Dontas (The Foundation of the Hellenic World)

The Foundation’s mission is to research, preserve and disseminate an understanding of Hellenic history and culture through the use of state-of-the-art computer technology. From its Hellenic Cosmos building in Athens it runs an active education, events and publishing programme.

As well as editing over 30,000 web pages, book and multimedia publications, Elizabeth was tasked with reorganizing the Foundation’s translation and editing department (eight staff) and creating an English language editorial policy for the Internet, multimedia and printed publications departments. This policy is featured here alongside Priene, the scholarly book that reconstructs the ancient city in detail; the same city can be visited virtually in the Foundation’s Virtual Reality dome at Hellenic Cosmos.

Epic of the Persian Kings: The Art of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, by Barbara Brend and Charles Melville (I.B.Tauris in association with the Fitzwilliam Museum)

This book catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition ‘Epic of the Persian Kings: The Art of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh’, held at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, in 2010–2011, in celebration of the millennium of the completion of Ferdowsi’s work. Bourchier oversaw the copy-editing, design and proof-reading of this beautifully illustrated volume.

The Benin Monarchy: An Anthology of Benin History, edited by Oriiz Onuwaje

Called in to proof-read this lavishly illustrated history, we also undertook a technical edit, incorporated corrections into the InDesign files and compiled the index – all within a very tight timeframe. With a Foreword by the Oba of Benin, the book will be launched first in Benin City, and then in the UK at the British Museum, where many of the famous Benin bronze artworks are currently housed.

Her contribution was extremely significant. The foundations she set continue to be the model for our work.
